Daily Prompt: Mind Reader
(Who’s the last person you saw before reading this prompt?)
When I opened the front door I saw the neighbour, an elderly man with wonderfully white hair and a full white beard, struggling out of the lift. He was carrying a voluminous bag over his shoulder, pushing another one with his foot and there were two boxes.
“Going away for the weekend?” I asked.
“ No, it’s my wife, she is going away on holiday.” He answered. “ For two weeks. Portugal. A yoga retreat.”
“ But didn’t she just get back from India? ” Pomi whispered into my ear.
“ She loves to travel.” The neighbour smiled and lifted one of the boxes out of the elevator. Sweat trickled down his temples. His wife was waiting in the car.
